Position Meat Wrapper – Store #24 Job Overview The meat wrapper is an important position within the store. Many customers decide to shop at our store because of the quality of the perishable departments. The look and smell of the meat department greatly influence customers' perceptions of the entire store. Even if a customer is not purchasing meat today, they want to see meat that is appealing, bright in color, well merchandised, and free of discoloration. This position is responsible for creating an appealing presentation of the tremendous variety and selection of steaks, chops, roasts, chicken, and other products. Each product must be fresh, look good, be odorless, and have the proper feel and firmness for the product. Meat must be handled correctly due to its extreme perishability, as the negative consequences of mishandling the job are significant, and the positive results can affect the entire store. The meat wrapper can make a difference through the way they perform their duties. We treat each customer like a guest in our home—with courtesy, friendliness, and the respect they deserve. Responsibilities Wrap packages with speed and accuracy following Jons standards. Follow company policy on code dating of meat packages using dates listed in the meat price book. Fill and rotate packaged meat cases on a daily basis. Clean shelves fully before placing product onto them. Reach out to customers and encourage additional sales. Respond to customers promptly. Maintain overall knowledge of the use and preparation of products offered for sale. Daily clean and maintain the wrapping station. Qualifications Able to read, write, and speak English with reasonable proficiency. Can communicate effectively with customers, associates, and others. Flexible in terms of hours scheduled to work. Reliable with a strong work ethic. Clean, presentable appearance. Good customer service skills. Ability to lift boxes weighing a minimum of 30 pounds. Ability to stand for four consecutive hours without restrictions. Ability to work effectively in a cool temperature environment. Knows basic cuts of meat. Must adhere to company standards and policies. Must comply with all safety policies and procedures. Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
