Job Description

The Multi-Machine Operator sets up and operates a variety of production equipment, including sawing, broaching, stamping, drilling, and tapping machines, to produce components that are similar in nature but vary in size. This role ensures that all parts meet precise specifications by following blueprints and job orders, maintaining quality standards, and performing full machine setups throughout each shift.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate production machinery (saws, broaches, stampers, drills, taps) for metal components
• Read and interpret blueprints and job orders to understand specifications, dimensions, and tolerances
• Determine operation sequences, tooling, feed rates, and cutting speeds based on job requirements
• Install and secure tools, fixtures, and workpieces for safe and accurate machining
• Operate machine controls to adjust positioning, speeds, feeds, and depth of cut
• Perform multiple machine setups per shift (typically 3) to support various production runs
• Load raw materials and unload finished parts efficiently
• Monitor machine performance and adjust as needed to maintain quality and efficiency
• Inspect parts using measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, tape measures) to ensure specifications are met
• Identify and report defects or process issues to maintain quality standards
• Replace worn or broken tools to minimize downtime and ensure consistency
• Manage coolant systems to maintain proper lubrication and cooling
• Support additional shop functions including grinding, sanding, assembly, fabrication, and saw operation
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Downers Grove, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
