Job Details: Job Location: HR IDD - Burford - Chesapeake, VA 23325 Position Type: Part Time - 0-19 No Benefits Education Level: High School Diploma Obtained Salary Range: $16.00 - $18.00 Hourly Travel Percentage: Negotiable Job Shift: Day Job Category: Developmental Disabilities Services Responsibilities Provide necessary supports as identified by the Person-Centered Planning Team. Communicate and coordinate with families, members of the Person-Centered Planning Team, day program, and other service providers as necessary. Teach, support, and perform household tasks such as cleaning, preparing meals, planning household budgets, and food shopping. Assist, identify, and meet the needs of clients to develop skills in daily living, following their Person-Centered Plan consistently. Monitor medication adherence, assist clients to take medication independently, and administer medication when needed. Perform crisis intervention; provide emergency first aid or CPR and other types of assistance as required. Plan, coordinate, and participate with clients in social activities. Participate in assessment activities and in the Person-Centered Planning Team as appropriate. Transport clients and/or provide mobility training to assist clients with appointments, grocery shopping, or events. Communicate and document activities and behaviors of clients in EHR and client files as appropriate. Prepare food according to a developed menu, reflecting client preferences and any prescribed diet; teach healthy choices when shopping or dining out. Attend staff meetings and training as required by the program. Ensure program compliance with Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas policies, procedures, and established protocols. Inspect homes, report repairs and maintenance needs, and ensure fire and other safety procedures are carried out. Monitor activities of visitors to the home. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas policies and procedures. Document all services in the electronic case management system daily. Work cooperatively and respectfully with the entire support team. Perform other duties as assigned. Ensure program operation complies with the Scope of Work, Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas policies and procedures, licensing, government regulations, and Medicaid waiver regulations. Seek to allow people to live their best lives in their chosen community. Physical Requirements Safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, clients, and program supplies as necessary. Travel to assigned locations; stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear, and perform basic and light home maintenance activities; operate office equipment. Operate office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand or arm movements. Remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time. Obtain a bona‑fide occupational exception based on sex or gender if required to ensure at least one female and one male on duty during each shift. One year of experience working in the field of intellectual or developmental disabilities. Less than one year may be permitted with enhanced supervision until the required year is obtained. Medication Administration Certification preferred and required by the end of the introductory period. Must pass all required trainings and new hire orientation classes and maintain current certifications and trainings required by CMS or relevant governmental entities. Computer skills required for documentation. Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills. Problem‑solving ability.
