Payroll SpecialistThe Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting and executing end-to-end payroll processing for Ford Field Management & Detroit Lions staff. The role involves working with all departments within the organization, which includes addressing payroll related questions/requests from employees and Managers. This individual should be able to work independently, be well-organized, and maintain a high level of confidentiality.Essential Functions (including, but not limited to):Field all staff payroll requests & inquiries from employeesReview the time management system for approvals, accuracy and completenessResponsible for the review of timely tax filingsInitiate monitor and record bank impoundTransmit 401-K deductions to provider and perform per-pay tie outsSet up and process garnishment calculationsSubmit payroll deductions to appropriate authoritiesAssist the People Team with updating payroll records to changes in tax status, address, direct deposit, etc.Review and reconcile payrollOversee the creation of the payroll calendarsResponsible for cash flow projections for staff payrollReview quarterly tax filings to ensure third party vendor has filed correctlySchedule and manage workers comp audit and assist with financial statement and 401k auditsWork with accounting to reconcile payroll accounts in general ledger on a periodic basisResponsible for monitoring pay codes and assist accounting with ledger accounts for staff payrollSupport Payroll Manager and SVP of Finance for other entities and projectsHelp create and document best practices and procedures checklists for effective and efficient processing controls.Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidentialComplete employment verification requests for players and practice squad playersNonessential Functions:Perform other duties as assignedMust be self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a teamWill accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoingWill advise supervisor if actual practice (activity) begins to deviate significantly from specified essential functionsQualifications/Requirements:Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience requiredExperience with Dayforce strongly preferredFundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent combination of education and work experience requiredStrong working knowledge of payroll practices and proceduresHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailProficient in MS Office (including Excel)Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends, holidays, and during officeAbility to travel between Ford Field and the Meijer Performance CenterA valid driver's license and a good driving record
