Position Overview

As a Registered Nurse in the PACU Recovery unit, your insights and contributions to patient care are highly valued. You will have the opportunity to engage in open, collaborative relationships with your direct supervisor, as well as participate in formal avenues such as hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. Your input will help shape decisions that enhance patient outcomes and the nursing profession.

Job Summary and Qualifications

In the role of PACU Registered Nurse, you will be essential in providing immediate post-operative care for surgical patients. Your duties will encompass:

• Managing airway support and closely monitoring neurological and cardiac conditions.
• Responding swiftly to any complications or adverse effects.
• Administering initial wound care at the surgical site and ensuring patient stability during recovery.
• Collaborating effectively with the surgical and anesthesia teams.

This position requires on-call availability during specific non-business hours, which will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Details

• Self-scheduling options available, posted four weeks in advance.
• Supportive leadership that fosters a collaborative and respectful team environment, encouraging nurses to ask questions and share insights.
• Access to staffing support from Certified Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, Charge Nurses, and an internal RN float pool.
• Regular rounding with unit leaders to ensure your suggestions for patient care are acknowledged.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care while implementing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Act as a vital member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, including providers and therapy staff.
• Utilize the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care independently.
• Assess and monitor patient conditions throughout your shift, documenting any changes and the care provided.
• Educate patients and their families or caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care.

Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
• Must hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• An Associate Degree is necessary.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support, a Bachelor's Degree, or a Registered Nurse Diploma must be completed within 6 months of employment.
• No travel is required for this position.
• No prior experience is necessary.
