Executive Chef – Premier Catering & High-End Events

Location: Bergen County, NJ

Position Type: Full-Time / Management

Compensation: Up to $125,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus (Up to 20% of base salary)

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptionally talented, highly organized, and driven  Executive Chef to lead culinary operations for our premier events and catering company in Bergen County, NJ. Specializing in high-end weddings, galas, and upscale corporate affairs, we pride ourselves on delivering unforgettable culinary experiences at the highest standard.

As Executive Chef, you will oversee all aspects of the culinary department, from menu design and prep execution to team leadership, equipment oversight, sanitation, and strict financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial & Cost Controls: Maintain rigorous food cost controls and waste management. Implement and manage robust inventory systems and purchasing program guides to ensure optimal food turnover, minimal loss, and maximum profitability.
• Equipment & Facility Oversight: Oversee all kitchen equipment maintenance schedules, preventive maintenance, and coordinate scheduled repairs with service vendors to ensure a safe, operational, and fully compliant facility.
• Team Recruitment & Development: Actively hire, onboard, and train all kitchen personnel. Mentor culinary staff with positive direction, actively promoting talent from within to foster a strong, dedicated team culture.
• Kitchen Leadership & Execution: Lead and inspire a high-performing culinary team to flawlessly execute high-volume, first-class events (primarily weddings and large-scale galas).
• Operational Organization: Oversee all food preparation schedules, event execution, and overall kitchen organization to ensure seamless event logistics.
• Quality & Sanitation: Maintain strict compliance with state and local health regulations, upholding impeccable sanitation and safety standards at all times.
• Menu Development: Bring creativity, seasonality, and refined technique to high-volume event catering menus.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of Executive Chef experience in a first-class catering operation, with a strong emphasis on weddings and large-scale events.
• Schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Management & Business Acumen: Proven track record in effective labor management, cost control (food/labor), inventory systems, equipment upkeep, and staff development.
• Work Authorization & Location: Must be authorized to work in the United States and have reliable transportation to commute to the facility in Bergen County, NJ.
• Background Check: Final candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive background check upon offer of employment.
• References: Strong professional references required.
• Certifications & Education: Culinary degree/formal culinary education preferred; Food Safety / ServSafe certification highly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: Up to $125,000 per year (commensurate with experience and skill set).
• Performance Bonus: Opportunity to earn an incentive bonus of up to 20% of base salary based on performance, cost control, and operational metrics.
• Employment Status: Full-Time, Exempt.
