Job Description: Senior Accounting Manager About Paryani Construction Paryani Construction is an Atlanta-based commercial general contractor specializing in healthcare, institutional, education, government, and interiors construction. Position Summary The Senior Accounting Manager owns the accounting function of the company: the monthly close, job cost accuracy, the Work in Progress (WIP) schedule, financial statement production, payroll, and the development of the project accounting staff. This is a hands‑on leadership role at the center of a growing general contractor, reporting directly to ownership, with a defined path to the Controller seat, which is currently open. The role blends the responsibilities of a traditional Accounting Manager with Assistant Controller level ownership of construction‑specific accounting. Reports To Bhavik Paryani, CEO, and Manish Paryani, President Direct Reports Project Accountant (with additional accounting staff planned as the company grows) Core Responsibilities Month‑End Close and Financial Reporting Own the full‑cycle month‑end close, including the close calendar, journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules. Produce interim P&L and balance sheet statements for ownership, bank, and surety reporting. Reconcile all bank accounts, including operating, payroll, and intercompany accounts, and the corporate AMEX. Maintain GAAP compliance, with revenue recognized under ASC 606 using the cost‑to‑cost method. Construction and Job Cost Accounting Own the WIP schedule end to end: monthly updates, over/under billing analysis, WIP adjustments, and moving jobs from open to closed. Ensure WIP accuracy that ownership, the bank, and the surety rely on for revenue recognition and bonding capacity. Participate in monthly cost projection meetings with project management; identify mis‑cost‑coded items and process the reclassifying journal entries. Partner with project managers and the project accountant on billings, retainage, and subcontractor cost accuracy. Payroll and Administration Review and process bi‑weekly payroll for all employees (salaried workforce, no hourly or certified payroll). Track PTO requests against PTO accruals and maintain accrual accuracy. Leadership and Development Supervise, develop, and mentor the Project Accountant, including a structured development path to Senior Project Accountant. Build and improve accounting processes, systems, and documentation as the company scales. Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for the company's outside CPA firm, bank, and surety. Growth Path Paryani Construction does not currently have a Controller. For the right performer, this role carries a written 12 to 18 month development path to Controller, with defined criteria and scheduled milestone reviews. Qualifications Required 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in construction accounting (general contractor or subcontractor). Hands‑on experience owning a WIP schedule and percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition under ASC 606. Experience running a full‑cycle month‑end close independently. Strong GAAP knowledge and demonstrated journal entry and reconciliation skills. Experience processing payroll and supervising accounting staff. Preferred Acumatica ERP experience, or demonstrated fluency adopting a modern cloud ERP. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CCIFP a plus. Experience supporting surety and bank reporting relationships at a bonded contractor.
