Occupational Therapist Assistant COTA Home Care EAST

Location Mesa, Arizona Position Summary This position is responsible for the administration of occupational therapy treatment under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, in accordance with physician referral, state and local organizational standards, regulatory agencies, and established departmental policies and procedures. The incumbent demonstrates the clinical competence and knowledge necessary to provide treatment appropriate to the age of the patients served. Core Functions Administers occupational therapy treatment according to the plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist and implements individualized treatment plans considering patient‑specific factors. Demonstrates understanding of scope of practice and documents communication with the supervising Occupational Therapist, including significant changes in patient function or tolerance to treatment. Documents according to departmental and regulatory standards, completing documentation within established time frames. Communicates pertinent patient information and treatment results to physicians, nurses, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team in a clear and timely manner. Exhibits adaptability in assignments related to caseload, scheduling, and staffing shifts, and assists in other patient care areas as needed. Demonstrates appropriate supervision and delegation of personnel, including therapy technicians and COTA students, and participates in training and orientation. Participates in department and facility process improvement and meets productivity standards set by the department. Interacts with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts such as other health care institutions and community providers, ensuring effective collaboration. Minimum Qualifications Graduated from an Occupational Therapy Assistant program accredited by the AOTA, or equivalent. Current Occupational Therapy Assistant license from the State of practice. BLS certification required. Must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
