About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join its team. The COO will work closely with the President and CEO to provide senior operational leadership, ensuring that all aspects of the organization's day-to-day operations are in line with its mission and strategic priorities. This includes overseeing guest and staff experience, infrastructure, technology, financial stewardship, and cross-functional execution. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic leadership, operational execution, financial management, and team and organizational leadership. They will be expected to model and integrate the company's values, particularly in the areas of sustainability, inclusion, and scientific integrity, into all operational decisions and team culture. Candidates for the COO position at the company should have a passion for marine conservation and a commitment to the values of the organization. A minimum of 10 years' of senior leadership experience in a complex, mission-driven, or visitor-serving organization is required, with a preference for those with a background in nonprofit, cultural, or public-facing operations. The role demands a proven track record in creating operational excellence, leading through change, and maintaining trust and accountability. Strong financial and business acumen, as well as the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, are essential. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be adept at building relationships, and have a strong understanding of or curiosity about marine conservation and sustainability practices.
