Volunteer Assistant Women's Wrestling Coach Catawba County Schools, Maiden High School – Maiden, North Carolina Position Type: Part-Time Starting Date: Immediately Posted: Mar 17, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Job Description Volunteer Assistant Women's Wrestling Coach will assist in the overall sporting program, reporting to the school principal and athletic director. Under general supervision, responsibilities include administration, coaching, equipment management, student‑athlete welfare, and public relations. Responsibilities Maintain knowledge of all Catawba County Schools athletic policies, state and conference regulations, and interpret them for staff. Design and conduct staff training conferences, clinics, and meetings to ensure consistent coaching standards. Supervise staff implementation of coaching plans, evaluate assistant effectiveness, and provide constructive feedback. Schedule and provide transportation for competitions and assist with tournament logistics. Prepare and maintain documentation for state and system requirements (physical examinations, parental consent, eligibility). Guard equipment, maintain proper safeguards, and oversee inventory and reconditioning. Monitor student‑athlete grades and conduct, intervene when necessary, and administer discipline procedures. Assist athletes with college or advanced educational options. Collaborate with the athletic director on budgeting, equipment specifications, and adherence to budgetary constraints. Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of practice areas and equipment rooms, and secure facilities when unoccupied. Promote wrestling program through recruitment, media outreach, and booster club engagement. Maintain positive relationships with news media, booster clubs, parents, volunteers, and fans. Perform additional duties assigned by the principal in accordance with district policies. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Superior administrative and organizational skills. Comprehensive understanding of Catawba County Schools athletic policy, North Carolina Administrative Code, and state statutes. Excellent communication with students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders. Minimum Training and Experience Must meet requirements of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Catawba County Board of Education, and school administration. Teacher license and experience as a Catawba County Board of Education teacher preferred. Prior successful coaching experience in wrestling (or equivalent sport). Job Requirements At least 4 years of relevant experience preferred. High school or trade school degree preferred. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
