RN Pediatric Cardiac ICU

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Cardiac Care Center (PCCC) provides specialized nursing care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with complex congenital and acquired cardiac conditions. This role involves comprehensive diagnosis support, medical and surgical treatment, and long-term follow-up care. The nurse collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team to deliver state-of-the-art care in a highly specialized pediatric cardiac environment. A minimum of 2 years of experience, including pediatric cardiac care and telemetry, is required along with current NY RN licensure and relevant certifications. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to pediatric patients with complex cardiac disorders.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor cardiac telemetry.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members for coordinated patient care.
• Participate in medical/surgical treatment planning and long-term follow-up care.
• Serve as charge nurse as needed based on unit requirements.
• Respond to on-call and callback situations to support patient care continuity.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of 2 years of pediatric cardiac care experience.
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• PALS certification (American Heart Association).
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association).
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system in pediatric cardiac specialty.
• Additional pediatric critical care or cardiac nursing certifications.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to work rotating day, evening, and night shifts.
• On-call and callback availability required.
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on unit needs.
• Work environment is a specialized pediatric cardiac intensive care unit.

Scheduling:

• 12-hour shifts with rotating day, evening, and night schedules.
• Shift assignments based on unit staffing needs and rotation policies.
