Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring a WV or Compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of RN experience.

Details

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit (5N)
• Patient population includes a wide range of oncology diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, brain, bladder, pancreatic, prostate, ovarian, liver, and melanoma
• Patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Schedule includes weekdays and every other weekend
• Blocked scheduling available
• 13-week contract with possibility of extension
• Charting via Cerner (experience preferred)

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (both must be AHA-issued)
• NIHSS certification required
• ONS/ONCC Chemo/Bio certification preferred; OCN preferred
• IV start skills required
• Experience with port access and management, central line care, PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with oncology symptom management and oncologic emergencies preferred
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from within the past 2 years required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide inpatient oncology nursing care including administration of chemotherapy, IV infusions, and biotherapy
• Skills include management of oncologic emergencies such as sepsis, anaphylaxis, hemorrhage, spinal cord compression, and acute tumor lysis syndrome
• Orientation is held every other Monday
• Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
• Candidates must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; candidates residing 75–100 miles away may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Former permanent employees of the Vandalia Health System (including Mon Health Systems and affiliated facilities) must wait 2 years from their last permanent employment date before being eligible as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (permanent, PRN, etc.) are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
• Previous probationary actions on an RN license will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• The facility has a strict attendance policy; excessive call-offs may jeopardize contract completion
• Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at time of consideration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
