Benefits Specialist

Apex Systems is seeking a Benefits Specialist to support a IT client. This role is responsible for supporting the people team. In this role, you will develop and utilize a comprehensive understanding of US benefits administration, provide excellent service as a point of contact across the company, troubleshoot diverse challenges, and assist with day-to-day benefit plan operations. By doing so, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and wellness of our global team.


Role Logistics

• Contract Duration: 6-month contract via Apex Systems with potential to extend or convert to full-time; conversion is not guaranteed
• Start Date: Targeting Oct. 2026
• Work Location: Fully remote on East Coast Time Zone
• Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, 40 hours per week
• Pay Rate: Target rate Starting at $40 an hour
• Years of Experience: 3+ years of relevant benefits and leave of absence administration experience

In this role you will:

• Be the first point of contact, responding to internal employee and partner team (including Payroll, HRCs, HRPs, Legal) inquiries regarding coverage, claims, and enrollment
• Coordinate and support external and internal partners
• Develop and send employee communications regarding any benefit changes or updates
• Conduct recurring and ad-hoc audits with attention to detail; investigate and solve for discrepancies
• Partner with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient benefit plan administration)
• Coordination of broker/carrier upskilling sessions
• Billing and invoicing support
• Maintain digital storage of plan documents and employee resources
• Maintain HIPAA compliance
• 401(k) plan administration
• Internal and external system testing and review, as needed
• Provide support for Epic's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) - event planning, budgeting, and invoice coordination

• Non-US benefits experience is helpful (Canada and Brazil preferred)
• Understanding of standard regulations and compliance practices related to benefit plans
• 2 years of relevant benefits administration experience
• Helpful: HRIS familiarity (we use Workday)
• Helpful: Excel or Google Sheets experience
