Job no: 559073 Work type: Staff Location: Pomona Categories: Unit 6 - Teamsters Local 2010, Probationary, Full Time, Trades, On-site (work in-person at business location) Responsibilities Typical duties may include: Must be able to patch drywall, tape, mud and apply texture Surface scraping, sanding and filling in preparation for painting and refinishing. Applying undercoats, primer and finish coats with brush or roller. Mixing and matching paints and finishes to finish. Able to work off a ladder Cleaning and maintaining brushes and other equipment Painting simple signs Advising in the selection, ordering and storing of paint materials Consulting with other trades and customers Maintaining simple records and providing reports Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Driver License, Valid and in State Work requires thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the painting trade including painting, finishing, drywall, and paperhanging; and a thorough knowledge of the applicable state codes and regulations, including the Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety of the State of California. Must be able to apply paints and finishes neatly and accurately; mix paints and finishes and match colors; erect and work from scaffolds, rigging and ladders; select the most appropriate materials; read, interpret and work from blueprints, plans, drawings, and specifications; make rough sketches; estimate cost, time and materials of painting work; maintain records and retrieve data using manual and/or computerized record-keeping systems; prepare standard reports; provide instruction to unskilled and semi-skilled assistants; analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations; read and write at a level appropriate to the position; and perform arithmetic calculations as required by the position. These abilities normally would be acquired through any combination of progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard painter’s apprenticeship program. Preferred Qualifications Computer maintenance management software, Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift, lower, push, and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-60 lbs; Must be able to carry loads ranging from 20-50 lbs. for distances up to 20 feet; and Must be capable of kneeling, reaching overhead, climbing stairs and ladders, walking, twisting, stooping, and bending; depending upon the project, employee may spend 20-50% of day sitting, 20-50% of day standing, 20-50% of day walking.
