Property Accountant

Role Description

Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including:

• Profit & loss statements
• Balance sheets
• Cash flow reports

Ensure accuracy and compliance with:

• GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)

• Oversee budgeting processes
• Forecast financial performance
• Implement cost control measures to maximize profitability across multifamily properties

• Manage treasury functions such as:
• Cash flow analysis
• Accounts payable/receivable
• Bank reconciliations
• Conduct risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies related to:
• Financial operations
• Regulatory compliance
• Market fluctuations
• Coordinate with external auditors for audits
• Ensure adherence to regulatory reporting standards including ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition)
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for governmental and non-profit accounting requirements
• Supervise general ledger accounting, account analysis, cost accounting, and account reconciliation activities to uphold data integrity
• Drive strategic planning initiatives by analyzing financial concepts, investment opportunities, and revenue management strategies aligned with corporate finance goals
• Utilize advanced financial software tools for accurate bookkeeping, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial report writing
• Lead team efforts in financial management training, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in financial acumen across the organization

Qualifications

• Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong background in governmental or non-profit accounting preferred
• Extensive knowledge of IAS (International Accounting Standards), IFRS, GAAP, ASC 606 standards, and technical accounting practices
• Demonstrated expertise in risk management, risk analysis, and compliance management within real estate or property management sectors
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing finance teams or cross-functional departments focused on financial planning and analysis
• Proficiency in financial software systems such as ERP platforms or specialized real estate management tools
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for strategic decision-making
• Prior experience in budgeting, forecasting, investment management, cost management, and revenue recognition is highly desirable
