Batch Maker
Location: West Caldwell
Pay Rate: $24.00 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Batch Maker to join our production team in West Caldwell, NJ. In this role, you will be responsible for safely performing filling, repacking, packaging, specialty chemical handling, and mixture-related activities while ensuring compliance with quality standards, production schedules, and safety procedures. This position requires the ability to handle a broader range of chemical products, including odor-sensitive and strong-odor materials, while maintaining accuracy, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate filling, packaging, and repacking equipment according to production schedules.
• Perform chemical filling, specialty repacking, and mixture-related assignments.
• Handle odor-sensitive and strong-odor products using proper PPE, ventilation, containment, and odor-control procedures.
• Verify product identity, lot numbers, labels, weights, fill levels, and packaging integrity.
• Inspect containers, labels, closures, and packaging materials for defects.
• Follow procedures to prevent contamination, spills, mislabeling, odor transfer, and packaging errors.
• Perform cleaning, changeovers, housekeeping, and minor equipment maintenance.
• Adhere to GMP, quality, safety, hazmat, and chemical-handling procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation and production records.
• Communicate and collaborate with warehouse, quality, production, and technical teams.
• Report safety concerns, equipment issues, leaks, spills, damaged containers, or product discrepancies immediately.

Additional Filler II Expectations

• Complete more complex filling and repacking assignments with limited supervision.
• Assist in training and supporting less experienced team members when assigned.
• Identify situations requiring additional PPE, cleaning, containment, or escalation.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in warehouse, manufacturing, chemical handling, filling, repacking, or production environments preferred.
• Experience with odor-sensitive, specialty, or strong-odor chemical products is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of pumps, scales, filling equipment, containers, closures, and hand tools.
• Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, labels, and batch documentation accurately.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• English proficiency required; Spanish language skills are a plus.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing ladders.
