Patient Intake Specialist

The Patient Intake Specialist is responsible for reviewing, organizing, and managing the intake process for medical equipment and therapy services provided in the home setting. This role works closely with sales, patients, caregivers, referral sources, healthcare providers, and insurance payers to ensure compliance requirements are met and products/services are delivered in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and experienced in healthcare intake, insurance verification, or medical billing processes.

Description

• Review referral documentation and patient records to ensure all required information is complete and accurate.

• Enter patient and order information into company systems.

• Verify insurance coverage and benefits to support order processing and reimbursement.

• Obtain additional documentation and information from referral sources, healthcare providers, patients, and internal teams as needed.

• Maintain detailed and accurate patient order records throughout the intake process.

• Communicate updates regarding order status to patients, referral sources, and internal stakeholders.

• Prepare and process documentation required for product delivery and reimbursement.

• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.

• Support compliance with payer requirements, clinical guidelines, and company policies.

• Help minimize claim denials by ensuring documentation requirements are met.

• Deliver outstanding customer service while assisting patients, caregivers, and healthcare partners.

• Contribute to special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• At least 1 year of experience in customer service, healthcare administration, medical office operations, healthcare intake, or a related environment.

• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

• Knowledge of insurance verification processes and healthcare reimbursement models.

• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth Valley, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
