Chief Engineer

Mission Critical Lead Facilities Operator Responsible for the operational management, effective daily leadership and administration of the operator with the objectives of safely, efficiently and effectively operating infrastructure and systems in a cost‑effective manner. This role includes scheduling facilities operators to provide required coverage at each shift and each location, ensuring a 100% uptime reliability of Mission Critical Facilities, and providing direction to Mission Critical Facilities Operators and/or performing preventive maintenance, repair and maintenance of building infrastructure systems. Responsibilities Manage the scheduling of facilities operators for shift coverage at all locations. Ensure highest level of professionalism while meeting client needs. Provide direction to Mission Critical Facilities Operators and supervise maintenance staff, including training and development. Directly manage all vendor personnel or teams performing site infrastructure technical support, including annual OEM preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, system upgrades and replacements. Protect and improve the value of client assets and ensure building infrastructure systems perform their intended function. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Maintain a valid state driver’s license and comply with on‑site vaccination requirements. Qualifications High School diploma or GED equivalent or technical training/degree (Required). Certified Mission Critical Operator (CMCO) (Desired). 7+ years related work experience, including supervisory experience as a Lead Facilities Operator or Assistant Lead Facilities Operator in a dedicated data center/mission critical environment. Operating Engineer or other applicable licenses and Universal CFC’s license (Required). Ability to understand and interpret design and construction documents for critical sites, spaces and systems. Experience in updating drawings with design professionals. Ability to present complex technical information to clients clearly and quickly. Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as Microsoft Office and email. Solid grasp of mathematics, physics and chemistry as they relate to facilities management and mission critical operations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong technical knowledge of mission critical systems: electrical (UPS, ATP, STS, PDU, generators, fuel systems, switch gear), mechanical (boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, water treatment, HVAC), fire/life safety, environmental controls (BMS, DDC, CMMS), construction, digital systems. Advanced analytical and quantitative skills; ability to solve technical problems and make effective presentations. Ability to maintain calm under duress during service emergencies. Physical Requirements Lifting up to 80 lbs. Working from heights and climbing ladders up to 30 feet. Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, and working/extending overhead. Working in adverse conditions (extreme cold or hot). Driving for long periods. Being able to sit and type for extended periods.
