Adjunct Faculty - Intro to Weight Training (EXSC-290) Dean College's School of Liberal Arts & Sciences is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach in person during the Fall 2026 semester. The position requires creating a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds. Job Description Teach EXSC-290: Introduction to Weight Training. EXSC-290 is a 3-credit class that meets 2.5 hours per week. The adjunct pay rate is $3,300 per section. Faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Exercise Science program provides a course charter with objectives and sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to use Canvas at the minimum level established by the College. Course description: This course will help students develop skills to promote participation in a weight training program. Students will use universal and free weights to develop strength and muscular endurance. The course covers concepts of form, repetition sequence, and provides a basic understanding of muscular and training techniques. Section schedule: Tuesday/Thursday, 8:00 am to 9:15 am. Tuesday is lecture and Thursday is lab in the weight room. Requirements Master’s degree in exercise science or a related field is preferred. Certification in strength and conditioning or another professional certification equivalent is required. Experience teaching or coaching in person at the college level is preferred. Experience creating lesson plans for lab/weight room activities and knowledge of various exercise equipment is required. Strong computer skills are required. Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required. Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required. Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas and classroom media is required. Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required. Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles is required.
