Nurse Manager Infusion Services

Job Summary:

The Nurse Manager for Infusion Services is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all staffing, supplies, and patient care activities within the assigned departments on a 24-hour basis. This role includes managing clinical operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, supporting staff development, and collaborating with healthcare teams to deliver high-quality nursing care. The Nurse Manager acts as a leader and resource, providing direction in emergency situations and promoting organizational goals. Responsibilities:

• Plan and coordinate staffing schedules and patient care activities for assigned departments.
• Oversee the financial performance of departments, including budgeting and cost-effective resource utilization.
• Coordinate orientation, training, and competency validation for nursing staff and preceptors.
• Make patient care assignments based on patient needs and staff qualifications.
• Develop, revise, and implement nursing policies, procedures, and standards.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to conduct patient care conferences and quality improvement activities.
• Evaluate staff performance, provide feedback, and recommend recognition or disciplinary actions.
• Approve employee leave and delegate assignments appropriately.
• Manage supply and equipment ordering for the department.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agency standards such as Joint Commission and CMS.
• Serve as Acting Chief Nursing Officer in the CNO's absence and support emergency response efforts.
• Participate in Nurse Executive Committee meetings and Nursing Service goal setting.
• Maintain professional behavior and address performance or quality of care issues promptly.
• Step into patient care roles as needed based on department needs.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Alaska license application required before start date for direct hire).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire and maintained biannually.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years professional nursing experience preferred, including at least 2 years as a staff RN in a specialty unit and 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Clinical and managerial competencies within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter.
• Proficient in nursing procedures, electronic health records (EHR), and computer systems (Microsoft Excel, Access, Word).

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications preferred for OB Oncology or Infusion nursing.
• Infusion Services nursing certification or course completion preferred.
• Experience with emergency or critical care environments.

Special Considerations:

• Ability to assume Acting Chief Nursing Officer responsibilities during CNO absence.
• Must be able to respond rapidly and effectively in emergency and high-stress situations.
• Compliance with dress code and organizational policies.
• Participation in at least 80% of Nurse Executive Committee meetings.
• Must address employee concerns consistent with Human Resources policies.

Scheduling:

• Responsible for planning and approving 24-hour staffing schedules according to agency personnel policies.
• Work schedule includes managing shifts and coordinating leave approvals for nursing staff.
