Pediatric Medical Assistant (Back Office)

Full-time  •  Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–5:15 PM  •  No nights, weekends, or call

Well Rooted Pediatrics is a functional and integrative pediatric practice in Frisco. We look for the root cause of what's going on with a child — nutrition, lifestyle, environment — and give parents real education and real choice, including around vaccines. Families drive in from across North Texas for the extra time our providers spend with each patient.

We're hiring an experienced Medical Assistant for our back office. This is a clinical role: rooming patients, pediatric vitals, blood draws, immunizations, point-of-care testing, procedure assist, and vaccine inventory. You'll work under our Lead MA on a small clinical team supporting three providers. It moves quickly, and you'll see the difference you make.

This posting is back office only. We have separate front-office staff; you will not split your week between the desk and the clinic.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

•      Rooming & vitals — prepare charts before visits; room patients newborn to 21 (identity, chief complaint, history and medications, age-appropriate vitals including infant weight, length, and head circumference); brief the provider before they walk in

•      Phlebotomy — venipuncture on children and adolescents, including infant and toddler draws with proper positioning and parent-assisted holds; heel and finger sticks; order of draw, labeling, and specimen processing for LabCorp and Quest

•      Immunizations — vaccines per the pediatric schedule with correct site selection by age; run our MA vaccine-only schedule; maintain vaccine inventory, temperature logs, cold chain, and VFC compliance

•      Point-of-care testing — strep, flu, COVID, and RSV testing, urinalysis, and other in-office tests

•      Procedures — assist with procedures, EKGs, ear irrigation, breathing treatments, cryotherapy, and ear piercing; sterilize instruments and rooms per infection-control protocol

•      Clinical coordination — track lab results, communicate results to families as directed by the provider, document accurately in the EHR, and support triage within MA scope

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are not hiring new graduates or entry-level candidates. After our two-week orientation, you should be able to carry a provider's schedule.

Required

•      MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, or equivalent) and current BLS

•      At least 2 years of hands-on clinical MA experience in a physician's office or outpatient clinic, with current practice in venipuncture, injections, and point-of-care testing

•      Pediatric experience — you have roomed, drawn, and vaccinated children and are comfortable with infants, toddlers, and their parents

•      Working knowledge of the pediatric immunization schedule, vaccine handling, and cold chain

•      Sound clinical judgment — you know what belongs to the provider and escalate when needed

•      Clear, calm communication; comfortable with a fast pace; coachable under the Lead MA and adaptable to each provider's preferences

•      Reliable transportation and dependable attendance

Strongly preferred

•      Pediatric or family-medicine practice experience

•      Integrative, functional, or holistic practice experience, or genuine interest in the model

•      Experience with practice-management EHR systems

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

•      Hourly pay based on experience and skill set, paid bi-weekly

•      80 hours of PTO per year plus practice-observed holidays

•      Monday–Friday with a full, uninterrupted lunch hour

We do not currently offer medical insurance or a 401(k); we are evaluating both.
