Summer Camp Head Lifeguard Concord Recreation is looking for a reliable and skilled Camp Head Lifeguard to lead a team of lifeguards and manage pool operations at Emerson Pool. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Program Manager and Camp Director, you will ensure pool safety, maintain cleanliness, and oversee daily operations, including chemical monitoring, skimming, vacuuming, and pump maintenance. Pay range: $20.00 - $30.00/hour ; starting pay based on qualifications. This is an hourly, part‑time position, consisting of up to 37.5 hours per week. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM Program Dates: June 15 – August 14, 2026 Training Dates: June 4 & 5, 2026 @ 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM; June 6, 2026 @ 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM; June 17, 2026 @ 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM; July 1, 2026 @ 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM. GENERAL SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Program Manager and Camp Director, the Camp Head Lifeguard manages lifeguards and pool operations at Emerson Pool. Responsibilities include maintaining safety and cleanliness, supervising lifeguards, monitoring chemicals, skimming, vacuuming, filter and pump maintenance. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Attend all pre‑camp training dates. Maintain safety and cleanliness of the pool; monitor swimmers and enforce regulations. Provide basic first aid, perform rescues, call for help, provide emergency care, interview witnesses, and file reports. Supervise all Swim Specialists to ensure compliance with policies and safety regulations. Open the pool daily, test for proper chlorine and pH levels, and set up equipment. Complete administrative tasks including swim documentation and record keeping per DPH standards. Maintain daily pool chemical log. Perform end‑of‑day maintenance duties. Conduct lifeguard in‑services three times throughout the summer. Perform other related duties as required. Demonstrate excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills. Serve as a social role model for campers and staff. Communicate consistently with counselors, directors, specialists, and nurse regarding camper issues. Enforce rules, regulations, and policies to assure safety. Maintain responsibility for all park and recreation property, including proper accounting and storage. Weekend work may be required upon request. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS High School education and 1–3 years lifeguarding and/or pool supervision experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR for Professional Rescuer, AED; WSI certification preferred. CPO certification must be obtained within one year of hire. Valid motor vehicle operator’s license with a safe driving record; ability to provide personal vehicle for occasional transportation. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Working knowledge of multi‑pool aquatic facility procedures and equipment; ability to perform lifesaving techniques, CPR and First Aid; strong swimming ability. Excellent customer service skills; effective communication with all members of the public, including children and young adults, and fair enforcement of facility rules. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Moderate physical effort required, including frequent lifting of 30–60 pounds and emergency rescue activities. Regularly required to walk, swim, stand, crouch, reach, crawl, climb, talk, sit, watch, and hear for extended periods. Use of hands to handle equipment and maintain vision and hearing at or correctable to normal. Work performed in varied environments including outdoor pool, pond waterfront; exposure to weather conditions and pool chemicals; noise moderate to loud at times. #J-18808-Ljbffr
