CDOC Part time Physician II MAT - Denver.

This part‑time position (4 hours per week) provides comprehensive medication‑assisted treatment (MAT) for inmates with opioid use disorder in a secure correctional environment, in collaboration with the Alcohol and Drug section of the Mental Health Division of the Colorado Department of Corrections. Responsibilities Provide treatment to inmates with opioid use disorder (OUD). Conduct medical histories, substance‑use and psychiatric histories, and physical examinations relevant to OUD. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and schedule regular visits for OUD offenders according to treatment needs. Educate inmates on opioid‑use abuse, overdose risks, and treatment options. Prescribe and adjust methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone based on clinical needs. Supervise Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, including direct line authority, clinical supervision, and education. Provide instruction, demonstration, and training to other health‑care professionals. Offer medical advice to other units or specialties through consultation regarding patients with OUD. Ensure compliance with DOC regulations, policies, procedures, clinical standards, state statutes, and medical directives in data entry, referrals, consultations, reporting, and co‑signatures. Attend quarterly medical review board meetings, monthly physician round‑table meetings, and other division meetings. Minimum Qualifications Licensed to practice medicine in Colorado as a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy. Board‑eligible (completed residency) or board‑certified in one of the following specialty areas: Emergency Medicine Family Medicine Internal Medicine Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Preventive Medicine Special Qualifications Experience prescribing methadone and buprenorphine for OUD. At least one year of experience in addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry. Board certification or proof of board eligibility in primary medical specialty, plus certification in addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry (preferred). Valid current DEA registration covering Schedule III medications. Required Competencies Ability to provide direct patient care to inmates. Knowledge of full‑spectrum primary care; skilled in office‑based procedures. Professionalism in a complex correctional environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in reading, comprehending, and communicating in English. Ability to create accessible documents following plain‑language and accessibility guidelines. Self‑control and resilience in stressful, potentially violent situations; remain alert, emotionally stable, and observant during shifts. Tolerance to stress, confinement, and high‑stakes interaction. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing medical care in a correctional environment. Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
