Billing Manager

Location: New York, NY - 3 days in Office - Midtown NYC Candidates must have current or recent experience working within a law firm environment to be considered. Applicants whose experience is exclusively outside the legal industry will not be considered. Experience managing billing, collections, revenue operations, or financial processes within a law firm is strongly preferred About the Opportunity A leading global law firm is seeking a Manager, Revenue Operations to join its Revenue Operations team. This role is responsible for leveraging deep knowledge of billing and revenue management procedures to support the firm's revenue operations objectives. The Manager will oversee the end-to-end billing process within assigned practice groups or offices, including billing, collections, inventory management, and revenue-related initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys, finance leadership, and operational teams to drive process improvements, maximize realization, and support the firm's financial objectives. Key Responsibilities Serve as a subject matter expert on billing and revenue management for attorneys, office leadership, and finance stakeholders. Coordinate with Revenue Operations teams to implement and maintain billing and inventory management best practices, procedures, system enhancements, and financial software upgrades. Partner with local finance leadership and committee members to support strategic revenue initiatives and operational objectives. Facilitate revenue-related meetings and ensure follow-up on action items and deliverables. Continuously evaluate revenue-related procedures and identify opportunities for increased efficiency, resource optimization, and process improvement. Lead inventory management efforts, including monitoring billing completion rates, ensuring timely invoicing, and driving adherence to billing deadlines. Oversee accounts receivable monitoring and collection support activities. Analyze reporting and financial metrics to support revenue performance and informed decision-making. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality when handling sensitive financial, business, and client information. Required Skills Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization. Strong understanding of billing systems and revenue management processes within a professional services or law firm environment. Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures, including: Debits and credits Journal entries Account reconciliations Strong analytical and mathematical skills, including experience calculating financial metrics and analyzing trends. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting, billing, or revenue operations experience. Minimum of 7 years of overall professional experience.
