Billing Manager – Law Firm

Position Overview

Morgan Legal Group, a growing and fast-paced law firm, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented  Billing Manager to support the firm's billing, collections, and accounts receivable functions. The ideal candidate will have prior law firm billing experience, strong knowledge of legal billing practices, extensive experience with  Clio Manage and Clio Grow , and the ability to work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining the firm's financial health by overseeing day-to-day billing operations, monitoring collections, conducting accounts receivable reviews, and ensuring compliance with client billing requirements. Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish to better serve our diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the firm's legal billing cycle from time entry review through invoice generation and distribution.
• Review attorney and paralegal time entries to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm billing guidelines.
• Generate, edit, and finalize client invoices in accordance with engagement agreements and client-specific billing requirements.
• Conduct regular  Accounts Receivable (A/R) reviews , analyze aging reports, identify delinquent accounts, and implement collection strategies.
• Monitor and manage outstanding client balances and proactively follow up on unpaid invoices.
• Work directly with attorneys and firm management to review A/R performance and develop action plans to improve collections.
• Communicate professionally with clients regarding billing inquiries, payment arrangements, and account status.
• Process billing adjustments, write-offs, write-downs, credit memos, and payment allocations as approved.
• Maintain accurate billing records and client account information within  Clio Manage .
• Generate financial, billing, collections, and A/R reports for firm leadership.
• Assist with trust account reconciliations and ensure compliance with legal accounting and firm procedures.
• Support implementation and optimization of legal billing systems, e-billing platforms, and LEDES billing formats.
• Train and assist staff on billing procedures and Clio best practices.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance billing efficiency, collections, and overall financial operations.
• Ensure strict confidentiality of client and financial information.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of law firm billing, legal accounting, or accounts receivable experience .
• Hands-on experience with Clio Manage and Clio Grow is required.
• Strong experience conducting  A/R reviews, aging analysis, collections management, and account reconciliation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage the full legal billing cycle.
• Strong understanding of law firm billing practices, trust accounting, and client matter management.
• Experience with legal billing software and accounting platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and client service abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced law firm environment.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Experience with LEDES billing and electronic billing platforms.
• Experience supporting estate planning, probate, elder law, real estate, litigation, or family law practice areas.
• Knowledge of flat-fee, contingency, and hourly billing structures.
