Reconciliation Specialist

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Reconciliation Specialist in Alexandria, VA. Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Reconciliation Specialist with strong reconciliation and accounting experience within a banking or financial services environment. This role is responsible for performing account reconciliations, researching discrepancies, supporting month end close activities, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting foundation, experience working with bank accounts and financial transactions, and a strong analytical mindset. Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and complete daily, weekly, and monthly account reconciliations
• Research, analyze, and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and outstanding items
• Reconcile cash accounts, general ledger accounts, suspense accounts, and other balance sheet accounts
• Assist with month end, quarter end, and year end close activities
• Record journal entries and maintain accurate financial records
• Review bank transactions and investigate variances, exceptions, and unreconciled items
• Support external and internal audits by providing requested documentation and analysis
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and banking regulations
• Collaborate with Treasury, Operations, Finance, and other business units to resolve accounting issues
• Prepare financial reports and account analyses for management review
• Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and efficiency
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 3+ years of accounting experience within a banking, credit union, or financial services environment
• Strong experience performing high volume account reconciliations
• Experience researching and resolving complex accounting discrepancies
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and formulas
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
