Director, Treasury and Finance Services Finance: Pews Finance Department is responsible for all financial functions at Pew. The Finance Department is committed to providing accurate, reliable, timely and cost-effective finance and procurement related products and services to aid in Pews mission. Services are managed by individual units with specific areas of focus. The Finance Department is comprised of Accounting and Reporting, Contracts and Procurement Services (CAPS), Payment Services, Payroll Services, Planning and Budgeting, and Treasury Services. The Finance Department seeks to hire individuals with the competencies, skills, experience and adaptability necessary to deliver superior-quality work in a results-oriented environment. Position Overview The director, treasury and finance services is a member of the Finance management team and leads Pews treasury, banking (domestic and international), cash flow, capital markets, and investment oversight activities and manages two staff members. The director is also responsible for organization-level financial forecasting, analysis, and reporting. The position is responsible for identifying new opportunities to enhance efficiencies and respond proactively to advance the financial agenda while supporting Pew. This individual also contributes to the development of the departments strategic goals and ensures that effective financial and operational controls are in place in the treasury functions to support current business needs and future growth of the organization. This position is based in Pews Washington, DC office and will report to the senior director, planning, budget and treasury. This position participates in Pews hybrid work program with core days in the office and the flexibility to telework the remaining days. Staff also enjoy four telework flex weeks per year. Responsibilities Strategic Treasury Leadership Execute and refine Pew's treasury strategy while ensuring adequate liquidity, preserving capital, and optimizing investment returns. Advise senior leadership on treasury, banking, financing, investments, liquidity, and enterprise financial risks. Lead long-term financial planning, cash forecasting, and scenario analysis. Translate complex treasury, capital markets, and investment information into clear, decision-useful insights for executive leadership, senior management, and the Board. Treasury, Banking and Cash Flow Management Responsible for overseeing financial planning and investment of funds for the organization. Manage bank account activities (receipts, disbursements, etc.), including ensuring appropriate internal controls and controls offered by Pews third party banking and investment partners are implemented. Maintain effective relationships with Pews domestic and international banking partners, ensuring quality service while reducing bank charges/fees where possible. Ensure that record-keeping and accounts meet the conditions of funders and/or statutory bodies. Ensure all treasury functions comply with relevant legislation and are bound by effective financial systems and controls. Provide effective monitoring and reporting of banking activities to senior leadership Present regular reports on the organizations cash flow. Capital Markets and Financing Oversee Pew's bond financing, including letters of credit, interest rate swaps, remarketing agreements, and covenant compliance. Evaluate financing alternatives and recommend strategies related to capital structure and debt management. Investments Oversight Lead and oversee collaborative and effective relationships with Pews outsourced investment partners, including the OCIO/investment advisor, custodian, The Glenmede Trust Company, and independent investment advisor, ensuring effective execution of board-approved investment strategies (where appropriate), timely reporting, and alignment with Pews investment policies, liquidity needs, risk tolerance, and long-term financial objectives. Demonstrate a strong understanding of investment strategies and portfolio construction to support fiduciary oversight of Pews financial assets by monitoring compliance with investment policies, evaluating portfolio performance and risk, reviewing advisor recommendations, and ensuring investment activities align with Pews mission, spending needs, liquidity requirements, and long-term preservation of capital. Coordinate periodic reviews of Pews investment policies, spending policies, reserves, liquidity targets, and risk parameters in partnership with Finance leadership and external advisors for senior organizational leadership and the Finance Committee. Present investment recommendations to Finance leadership. Board and Audit Support Oversee preparation and accuracy of quarterly finance committee package Prepare analysis for audit and liaise with the auditor on treasury and investment functions, as needed. Team Development and Leadership Exemplify Pews commitment to Pews values. Develop and implement departmental goals that align with broader Finance objectives, and provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to support staff performance, engagement, and professional growth. Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement to include a commitment to communication, customer service and quality. Serve as a finance department subject matter expert on new and emerging technologies to identify opportunities to leverage them within Finances work. Provide support and training on new technologies as needed. Foster a work environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible and in line with Pew and department goals Other duties as assigned Requirements Generally, requires a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including staff, project, and/or consultant management experience; bachelors degree or equivalent financial experience within a complex, multi-faceted organization to include a blend of both for profit and non-profit organizations required. Minimum of two plus years of previous direct supervisory experience required including experience managing performance management process for direct reports and providing career development advice and counsel. Five plus years of relevant treasury, banking, financial modeling, analysis, and capital markets/investments knowledge and experience preferably in an organization with diverse funding sources. A collaborative and successful manager with strong analytical and customer service skills is required. Exceptional written[SS2.1][JM2.2][SS2.3], oral, interpersonal and presentation skills including the ability to effectively interface with staff, senior management, auditor, Board, and various banks and financial advisors/managers. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the development and maintenance of sophisticated financial models supporting long-term financial planning, scenario analysis, cash flow forecasting, investment analysis, asset allocation modeling, and executive and Board reporting. Experience using Microsoft Power Query, Power Pivot, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tools to automate data collection, transform financial data, and develop executive dashboards that provide meaningful insights for senior leadership and the Board of Directors. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and the ability to prepare high-quality executive presentations, Board materials, financial analyses, and technical documentation. Demonstrated ability to leverage technology and emerging tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), to improve financial reporting, forecasting, operational efficiency, and decision-making. Proactive, seasoned professional with evidence of having worked as a business partner to senior level management, including the CFO. Demonstrated organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects and move quickly from one to another. Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization. Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance, operations, and technology initiatives. Travel Minimal travel between Pews office in DC and to other Pew offices or trainings. Salary Range United States Pay Range: $183,000 - $204,500 The salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on Pews commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and business need.
