Summary

We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead technology operations across multiple automotive dealership locations. This position is responsible for keeping our sales, service, parts, and business office systems secure, reliable, fast, and compliant with manufacturer and regulatory requirements.

The IT Manager will oversee dealership technology infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, vendors, and day-to-day technical operations while supporting employees across multiple rooftops.

This is a hands-on, onsite position requiring regular commuting between our dealership locations in Brooklyn, NY and Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor IT staff while coordinating with store-level management and designated technology contacts.

• Own and support the Dealer Management System (DMS) environment, including platforms such as Tekion, along with integrations involving CRM, digital retail, service scheduling, and other dealership systems.

• Manage networks, Wi-Fi, VoIP/phone systems, internet connectivity, Microsoft 365/Azure environments, and cloud services across all dealership locations.

• Maintain compliance with OEM IT and security standards , including audits and required hardware, software, infrastructure, and security updates.

• Help safeguard customer and financial information in accordance with applicable requirements, including the FTC Safeguards Rule, GLBA, and PCI DSS .

• Lead cybersecurity initiatives, including user access controls, patch management, backups, phishing awareness and training, endpoint security, and incident response.

• Manage IT vendors, contracts, software licensing, technology purchasing, and the overall IT budget.

• Plan and oversee technology requirements for dealership renovations, new store buildouts, expansions, and acquisitions.

• Support technology used throughout the showroom and service drive , including tablets, technician workstations, diagnostic equipment, kiosks, printers, scanners, and related systems.

• Develop and maintain disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and system uptime plans to minimize disruptions to vehicle sales, service repair orders, and dealership operations.

• Establish service-level expectations and track IT performance, system reliability, cybersecurity risk, open issues, and technology spending.

• Provide regular technology updates and recommendations to dealership ownership, General Managers, and other senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional IT experience , including at least 2 years of experience managing or supervising employees .

• Strong knowledge of networking, infrastructure, Wi-Fi, firewalls, switches, and related technologies.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure environments.

• Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including access management, endpoint security, patching, backups, phishing prevention, and incident response.

• Experience managing technology vendors, contracts, licensing, and third-party service providers.

• Experience developing and managing IT budgets and technology-related expenses .

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to non-technical department heads, managers, and employees .

• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and technology issues across different dealership locations.

• Must have reliable transportation and the ability to regularly commute between dealership locations in Brooklyn, NY and Englewood Cliffs, NJ .

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous automotive dealership or automotive retail IT experience .

• Hands-on experience administering or supporting dealership DMS platforms such as CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, or Tekion .

• Experience supporting multiple business locations or a multi-rooftop dealership group.

• Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A), dealership acquisitions, system migrations, or technology integrations .

• Experience supporting dealership CRM, digital retail, service scheduling, and fixed-operations technology.

• Professional IT certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA, CISSP, or Microsoft certifications are preferred.

Compensation & Work Environment

Starting Salary: $85,000 per year

This is a full-time, onsite position supporting multiple dealership locations. Regular travel between Brooklyn, New York and Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey is an essential part of the position.
