Desktop Support Analyst

We’re looking for a Desktop Support / IT Support Specialist to join our NYC-based IT team. This is a hands-on, fully onsite role supporting end users across the organization with desktop hardware, software, access, and day-to-day technical issues.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working directly with users, and taking ownership of a wide range of IT requests in a fast-paced, professional environment.

What You’ll Do

Desktop & Application Support

• Provide hands-on and remote technical support for Windows workstations and end users.
• Troubleshoot Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, Excel Add-ins, and other business applications.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot business, developer, and specialized applications.
• Support users through walk-ups, phone, email, chat, and the service desk.

Active Directory & Access Management

• Manage Active Directory accounts for new hires, departures, and employee role changes.
• Administer security groups, distribution lists, and shared-folder permissions.
• Handle password resets, account lockouts, and MFA enrollment.
• Follow established security, access-control, and IT policies.

Endpoint Management & Security

• Perform and monitor workstation patching using Quest KACE and assist senior IT staff with server patching.
• Track patch compliance and help remediate endpoint vulnerabilities.
• Assist with workstation imaging, deployment, upgrades, and secure decommissioning.
• Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory records.

Remote Access & Infrastructure Support

• Provision and troubleshoot RDP and VPN access.
• Support remote and disaster-recovery workstation environments.
• Provide basic troubleshooting for networking and connectivity issues.
• Assist with scheduled backup, restore, and file/database recovery activities, including quarterly audit restores.

Specialized Technology Support

• Build and maintain Bloomberg terminals and other trading-floor technology.
• Support developer and quantitative tools including Visual Studio, VS Code, SQL Server Management Studio, scheduling tools, and container platforms.
• Assist with approved AI-assistant applications and workstation integrations.

Hardware & Office Support

• Deploy, relocate, and decommission workstations and IT equipment.
• Support office and desk moves, printers, desk phones, and other peripherals.
• Track hardware assets, software licenses, and equipment throughout the technology lifecycle.
• Work in server rooms and wiring closets and occasionally travel to the CT office as needed.

Service Desk & Documentation

• Own tickets from intake through resolution and provide consistent follow-through.
• Accurately document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and asset information.
• Maintain IT documentation and knowledge-base articles.
• Escalate more complex issues to senior IT staff when appropriate.

What We’re Looking For

• 1–3 years of experience in desktop support, help desk, IT operations, or a similar role.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory, including user/group administration, permissions, and password management.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365, particularly Outlook and Teams.
• Familiarity with PowerShell for basic troubleshooting or automation.
• Experience with endpoint management or patching tools such as KACE, SCCM, Intune, or similar.
• Experience with hardware deployment, imaging, peripheral troubleshooting, asset tagging, and equipment decommissioning.
• Familiarity with RDP, VPN, remote troubleshooting, and basic networking concepts.
• Understanding of standard IT security practices.
• Strong communication skills and a professional, service-oriented approach.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a high volume of requests.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader IT team.
• Discretion and professionalism when working with confidential employee and company information.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting users in a regulated, audited, or highly controlled environment.
• Financial services or investment management experience.
• Experience supporting Bloomberg terminals or trading-floor technology.
• PowerShell scripting experience.
• Relevant IT certifications.

Work Environment

• 100% onsite in NYC — no remote or hybrid option.
• Occasional scheduled after-hours work for maintenance, patching, or restoration windows.
• Ability to lift/move and install IT equipment.
• Comfortable working in server rooms, wiring closets, and other technical spaces.
• Occasional travel to the Connecticut office may be required.
