Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic educational setting. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with students and staff while supporting inclusivity and communication accessibility in classrooms for the 2026-2027 school year.
Placements are available at respected schools in the region, and you’ll enjoy a consistent weekday schedule with up to 37.5 hours per week. The contract begins August 3, 2026, and runs through May 28, 2027.
What you’ll bring:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter credentials appropriate for a school setting
- Minimum 3.5 EIPA qualification
- Experience providing interpretation services in K-12 environments preferred
- Clear, expressive American Sign Language (ASL) skills
- Strong professionalism, adaptability, and a collaborative approach in school teams
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in classroom and school activities
- Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Interpret classroom instruction and discussions, adapting to various grade levels and content
- Work with educators and special services teams to support students’ learning and participation
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards for interpreters in educational settings
