Administrative Associate II (S)

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!

This position reports to the Administrative Specialist II in Human Resources and indirectly reports to the Administrative Officer III at a multi-custody female correctional facility. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing clerical support services to the Administrative/Human Resources Section.
  • Understanding and providing support in regard to Employee Benefits.
  • Maintaining files/records according to departmental policy to allow quick, easy access and retrieval of information requested.
  • Possessing and utilizing solid communication skills both orally and written.
  • Composing memos/letters and proofreading documents for spelling/punctuation/grammar.
  • Inputting and comprehending computer-generated data.
  • Reviewing completed tasks to ensure accuracy/integrity of information.
  • Working under stressful conditions in meeting daily/monthly deadlines.
  • Receiving and processing sectional mail.
  • Maintaining all aspects of the hiring process/setting up interviews.
  • Working with prospective employees to gather information.
  • Compiling all necessary paperwork and maintaining all position history and recommendation files.
  • Assisting with data entry and the weekly time sheet process.
  • Performing other related duties as needed.

  • Documented working knowledge of word processing or spreadsheet programs.

Salary Range $31,200 - $51,249

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with established working hours and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.
