Machine Operator - CNC MachinistSanta Teresa, New MexicoJob Title: Machinist / CNC Machinist Department: Manufacturing / Production Pay: $20.00 Per Hour Shift: 3rd Shift 10pm - 06amJob Summary: The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, programming, and maintaining CNC and conventional machining equipment to manufacture precision metal components according to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards. The position requires expertise in machining processes, blueprint reading, precision measurement, and continuous improvement practices while maintaining a safe work environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment.Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD models, and work orders.Program, edit, and optimize CNC machine programs as required.Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters for production jobs.Perform first-piece inspections and verify product quality throughout production.Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.Calculate dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.Perform machine setups, tool changes, and routine maintenance.Troubleshoot machining issues and make process adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency.Document production data, inspection results, and machine performance.Maintain safe operating procedures and comply with all company safety requirements.Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce scrap.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.Technical training in Machining Technology, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.2+ years of CNC machining experience preferred.Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.Experience with CNC controls and machining processes.Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.Knowledge of precision measuring equipment and inspection procedures.Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.SkillsCNC Programming and OperationBlueprint ReadingGD&T InterpretationPrecision MeasurementProblem SolvingQuality ControlPreventive MaintenanceSafety CompliancePhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.Ability to work around heavy machinery and moving equipment.Manual dexterity to operate machinery and measuring instruments safely.
