About the Position

Job Title: RN - Med Surg/Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, IV Certification (for LVNs), NIH Stroke Scale Description: This is a backfill contract position for a registered nurse specializing in medical surgical and telemetry care. The shift is from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. No on-call duties are required. The unit consists of 30 beds with a staffing ratio of 1 nurse for every 5 patients. There are a total of 60 staff members on the unit, including registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, and patient care technicians. Key equipment utilized in the unit includes vital sign monitors, computer on wheels, Hoyer lifts, PCA pumps, and telehealth solutions. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Typical procedures performed on the unit include NIH stroke assessments, EEGs, gastric decompression, and wound care. The ideal candidate should be team-oriented and self-motivated. Navy scrubs are the required dress code, and certain piercings are not permitted. Staff recognition includes awards based on patient feedback and team achievements.
