Medical Surgical/Telemetry RN

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift, 4x12-hour schedule from 07:00 to 19:00. Requires every other weekend and floating.

Job Description

The Medical Surgical/Telemetry RN will provide high-quality patient care in a complex care unit, focusing on MedSurg patients, ortho overflow, and long-term care needs. The nurse must efficiently manage a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 and actively participate in patient monitoring and critical response activities within a high-volume unit setting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry patients and respond to rapid response/code situations.
• Administer medications and manage various treatments, including blood products and IV therapy.
• Perform wound care, tracheostomy management, and assist with feeding tube care.
• Conduct safe and effective patient management in accordance with established protocols.
• Ensure quality care by maintaining accurate and timely documentation using the EPIC charting system.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New York State RN License (in hand, no exceptions).
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; valid NIHSS must be included with submission.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an RN with a focus on MS/Tele.
• Charge nurse experience required.
• Experience with EPIC charting system is mandatory.
