Job TitleFull-time available on 12 hour night shift. Pay ranges from $26.75/hr to $38.41/hr, depending on experience or having a Critical Care license. $2,000 sign on bonus for full-time. This position will strictly transport NICU/PICU patients.SummaryResponsible for the performance of emergency vehicle and patient care functions in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, statutes and regulations, as well as company policies and local medical protocols. Additional coverage is available.Flexible spending accounts for medical and child careLong term and short term disability insurance401k retirement planLength of Service BonusFree vaccinationsUniforms are provided and an annual boot allowanceAssociate Assistance Program with free counseling sessions for associates and their family membersWellness ActivitiesEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure daily customer happinessParticipates in the delivery of patient careAssures that the medic unit is completely stocked, clean, and in good running order at the beginning and end of each shiftExamines patients and reports medical conditions to emergency department personnelPrepares medical reports and invoices of runs made by the crewAttends training sessions as required to maintain certificationCleans vehicles and patient care compartments and maintains stations in a neat, orderly fashionReports vehicle and equipment malfunctions to the Control Center and/or appropriate supervisorHelps in performing routine maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment in conjunction with completion of medic unit checklistOther roles and responsibilities as assignedQualifications/Skills & Knowledge RequirementsExceptional knowledge of emergency care proceduresExceptional knowledge of common physical illnesses, obvious symptoms, and appropriate medical terminologyExceptional knowledge of city streets and traffic regulationsDemonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in stressful situationsConsiderable skill in the application of emergency care procedures and equipmentResponsible for maintaining a good working relationship with fellow crew members, police, fire, and the general publicAbility to prepare detailed written reportsMust be at least 18 years of ageMust maintain a valid Michigan driver's license and a good driving recordMust have a high school diploma or G.E.D.Must be interviewed by Life EMS designeeMust pass all Life EMS pre-employment requirements as outlined on the Conditional Offer of EmploymentMust possess current Paramedic license issued by the state of MichiganMust pass local medical control authorization requirementsMust possess current BLS CPR cardMust obtain a trauma certification, such as PHTLSMust obtain a pediatric certification, such as EPC, PALS, or PEPPMust be certified and current ACLSPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance visions, color visions, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The associates must also do the following:Sit and drive using frequent wrist motions and forward reachesWalk, climb stairs, carry medical equipment up to 70 lbsPush and pull wheelchairs while ascending or descending stairs with 130 pound patientLift, push and pull stretcher to load and unload 150 pound patient (with assistance of one other Paramedic)Lift and transfer loads up to 150 pound (with assistance of one other Paramedic)Climb ladder and crawlLifting one end of stretcher weighing 105 lbs from chest to overhead (48"-66")Ability to wear particulate respirator. Facial hair, except for a mustache to the corners of the mouth, is prohibited.**Please note that Life EMS tries to accommodate all schedules, but as an EMS agency, you may be required to work shifts outside of your requested availability so we can assist our patients and communities. This may include days, nights, weekends, or holidays.
