Title: AOT Contracts Specialist IV - Grants Application Deadline Date: 06/18/2026 Department: Transportation Agency Location: Barre, VT, US Position Type: Permanent Schedule Type: Full Time Minimum Salary: $32.87 Maximum Salary: $51.52 Overview The Vermont Agency of Transportation's Contract Administration Bureau is seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented professional to join our Grants Unit. This role will assist in the support of more than 1,000 grants across 30 statewide programs each year, ensuring the efficient use of resources that keep Vermont's transportation system moving. The Specialist will prepare and assemble documents for Notice of Funding Opportunities through grant execution and assist with grant financial monitoring responsibilities. The position is expected to maintain accurate data across multiple software systems and help ensure compliance with state and federal requirements, and will assist with the development of detailed procedures and continuous improvement efforts. We are looking for an individual who brings strong organizational skills, the ability to move seamlessly between priorities, and can work independently and within a group setting. Excellent communication and critical thinking skills are a must. As of July 12, 2026, the step 1 rate for pay grade 26 will be $33.53 per hour and the step 15 rate will be $52.55 per hour. Incumbent interacts with internal and external customers requiring professional conduct. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in public administration, accounting, business management or related field AND two (2) years or more of experience in the review and/or administration of government contracts, grants and agreements, maintenance or construction processes, public administration, law, or a related field. OR High School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years or more of experience in the review and/or administration of government contracts, grants and agreements, maintenance or construction processes, public administration, law, or related field. OR Two (2) years or more of experience as an AOT Contracts Specialist III or AOT Contract Administrator III with the State of Vermont.
