Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN General)Administers nursing care within scope of practice as per state regulations under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other authorized healthcare professional. Administers oxygen and applies sterile dressings. Inserts catheters and reinserts gastrotomy tubes. Suction and irrigate wounds, and give enemas and douches. Collects specimens and performs dialysis treatments. Operates hemodialysis equipment and monitors patients during procedures. Assists healthcare professionals with physical exams, treatments, and laboratory tests. Provides emergency assistance by administering first aid, performing CPR, and managing patient restraints. Administers controlled and noncontrolled medications in various forms. Prepares and maintains medication accountability records, charts patient records, and observes and documents patient conditions. Prepares and maintains related reports and records. Provides general nursing care and assistance with personal grooming, hygiene, and daily living activities. Administers medications and topical treatments and responds to patient alarms. Makes medical appointments for patients and assists with recreational activities. Provides orientation and training to lower-level direct care staff. Attends and participates in various meetings and training programs as assigned. Orders medication and medical supplies as needed. Cleans and restocks medication carts and performs clerical tasks. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing procedures, pharmacology, patient care, first aid, and CPR. Assists in maintaining a safe and compliant working environment according to regulations. Develops rapport with patients and responds appropriately in emergency situations. Demonstrates dexterity in administering injections and performing medical treatments as necessary. Maintains compliance with institutional policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations.
