Senior Principal Tax Accountant

• Manage state income tax audits
• Serve as the primary point of contact with state taxing authority auditors
• Respond to audit requests
• Research and defend tax positions
• Review audit adjustments
• Facilitate payments and collections
• Track and communicate audit findings affecting subsequent years to the tax compliance team
• Participate in financial statement preparation, particularly for uncertain tax positions
• Draft memos documenting tax positions
• Oversee preparation and filing of amended state tax returns following federal tax changes from IRS settlements or amended federal returns
• Resolve related tax notices
• Assist with modeling state tax planning scenarios
• Review state income tax returns
• Report to the Senior Manager – State Audits and Planning

Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field, plus a CPA, and a minimum of 8 years of experience in federal/multi-state income tax for large corporations; alternatively, a Master’s in Taxation, CPA, and 5 years of experience in federal/multi-state income tax for large corporations Knowledge of current and pending state income tax laws and regulations State income tax research ability and experience Experience in the Aerospace/Defense industry is beneficial Experience with income tax accounting and preparation of tax provision for public company financial statements is preferred Familiarity with CorpTax software U.S. Citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in managing state income tax audits, including research and defense of tax positions, and preparation of tax provisions for financial statements. Proficient in navigating state income tax laws and regulations, with strong capabilities in communication and collaboration with tax compliance teams.
