Work Environment

This role is fully remote, affording you the flexibility to work from home while still engaging with clients and colleagues through telecommunication platforms. The position is primarily based in a school setting, where you will provide essential support to students facing mental health challenges. You will collaborate with educators, counselors, and families to ensure a holistic approach to care, leveraging technology to connect with clients effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments through interviews and evaluations of students and their families to identify social, emotional, and economic factors affecting mental health.
• Utilize various trauma-informed therapeutic techniques to provide telehealth mental health services, focusing on interventions related to substance use disorders and trauma treatment.
• Monitor clients' progress, following up regularly to ensure improvements in their mental health and well-being.
• Research and advocate for community resources such as food assistance, childcare programs, and healthcare services to support client needs.
• Respond promptly to crisis situations, including mental health emergencies and cases of child abuse, ensuring the safety of clients and providing essential resources.
• Identify and reach out to individuals and communities in need of mental health support, collaborating with school personnel to implement preventive strategies.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily support students from diverse backgrounds within the school system. Many of these children may experience various challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, or behavioral issues. Your intervention will empower these students, helping them develop coping strategies while enhancing their academic performance and overall quality of life.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) license in the state of Oregon.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience providing mental health services, preferably in a school or health-related setting.
• Experience working with veterans or individuals with substance use disorders.
• A solid understanding of Department of Mental Health billing and related paperwork requirements.
• Knowledge of child development principles and the dynamics of parent-child intervention is essential.
• Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively counsel and advise patients.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with trauma-informed care methodologies.
• Familiarity with evidence-based practices in working with children and adolescents.
• Previous experience in a telehealth setting will be viewed favorably.
