Staff accountant

Senior Accountant (Non-Profit Sector) Position Type: Full-Time & Onsite Compensation: $62,000 - $75,000 Are you an experienced accounting professional looking to make a meaningful impact? Our client is seeking a Sr. Accountant to join their prominent non-profit organization. In this role, you will perform complex accounting functions, including financial reporting and regulatory compliance. This role directly supports organizational decision-making by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data. You will partner closely with the Accounting Management team to enhance processes, manage internal controls, and execute seamless month-end and year-end close activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting is strictly required.
• Experience: A minimum of five 5 years of accounting experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role is required.
• Industry Experience: Prior experience within a Non-Profit organization is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complex journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, delivering actionable recommendations and data-driven analysis.
• Maintain complete, audit-ready supporting documentation for all financial records, entries, and account reconciliations.
• Build and maintain detailed spreadsheet models to run financial calculations, process system inputs, and generate key executive reports.
• Audit payroll allocations, purchasing documents, and operating expenditures to ensure full compliance with internal controls and state/federal funding guidelines.
• Maintain core accounting records while partnering with leadership on annual budget formulation, routine forecasting, and ad-hoc financial reporting.
• Compile accurate, timely schedules and supporting documentation to streamline year-end audits and tax compliance filings.
• Drive month-end close procedures, lead inventory counts, and proactively identify workflow efficiencies to optimize systems and internal accounting policies.
