Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Description

This role is primarily a back-office position within a high-volume, fast-paced community health clinic. The Medical Assistant will support underserved populations, requiring compassion, cultural sensitivity, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, room patients, and prepare charts.
• Maintain monthly equipment logs for devices such as Hemocue and refrigerators.
• Support referral submission and tracking.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with funder and Quality Management requirements.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance at all times.
• Greet and register patients when needed, assisting with form completion.
• Answer telephones and schedule appointments.
• Retrieve medical files and maintain medical records.
• Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring they are neat, clean, and stocked.
• Interview patients to obtain basic medical information and history.
• Measure and record vital signs, height, weight, and BMI.
• Maintain sanitary and sterile supplies and equipment.

Essential Skills

• Medical Assistant diploma or certificate from a recognized institution.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Ability to commit to a full-time, Monday–Friday onsite schedule.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in primary care, community health, nonprofit, or FQHC settings strongly preferred.
• Candidates with 1 year of experience will be considered if they have strong phlebotomy or CMA/CPT certification.
• Phlebotomy certification (CPT) or CMA preferred.
• Experience in hospital, ER, or urgent care settings is advantageous.
• Spanish speaking is a plus, but not required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA 90036.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
