Production Technician I

This role is part of our Maritime Defense Systems business, which delivers integrated solutions with decades of proven performance across submarine, surface, and autonomous naval platforms supporting high-priority national defense programs. Our bow-to-stern capabilities include acoustic and sonar protection systems, propulsion systems, advanced composite structures, missile subsystems, canisters and launchers, and autonomous underwater vehicle subsystems. From concept through production, we combine engineering, materials expertise, specialized manufacturing, and large-scale testing to deliver mission-ready systems that reduce technical risk and support long-term operational performance. The Production Technician supports daily manufacturing operations by working hands‑on with composite materials, tools, and production equipment. This role contributes directly to product quality and reliability by following instructions, preparing materials, performing fabrication tasks, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. It plays a key part in producing specialized hardware by measuring components, using hand and power tools, and supporting teammates to complete production activities accurately and efficiently. Responsibilities Follows written and verbal instructions to perform daily production activities safely and accurately. Uses measuring tools such as tape measures, speed squares, and framing squares to support fabrication and inspection tasks. Learns and operates basic tools and equipment including grinders, saws, routers, and sanders. Handles chemicals and solvents safely while supporting manufacturing processes. Works collaboratively with team members to complete tasks and maintain workflow. Maintains attention to detail and completes assigned tasks with accuracy and consistency. Supports material preparation, component setup, and general shop activities in a fast‑paced environment. Communicates effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate work. Practices safe work habits and adheres to all safety procedures and requirements. Required Qualifications Must be 18 years of age. Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and perform basic math. Ability to work with measuring devices such as tape measures, speed squares, and framing squares. Ability to pay close attention to detail and complete tasks with consistency. Ability to learn and safely use tools such as grinders, saws, routers, and sanders. Willingness and ability to handle chemicals and solvents. Ability to work well with team members. Time management and communication skills. Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced environment. Commitment to safe work practices. Preferred Qualifications Reliable transportation. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED). Problem‑solving skills and strong motivation to learn. Organizational ability and capacity to multitask. Three years of experience in a manufacturing or construction environment. Two to three years of trade experience in fields such as carpentry, painting, mechanical work, or home finishing. Knowledge of composite materials and processes such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, resin infusion, vacuum bagging, and mold making. Ability to operate a forklift. Hobby interests such as team sports, arts and crafts, mechanics, woodworking, gardening, building models, small engine repair, or playing instruments. Physical Requirements Ability to bend, stoop, or climb as required. Ability to ascend and descend vertical ladders; stand and walk for extended periods; work at heights; work in hot or cold environments; work in confined spaces; and lift approximately 50 pounds. Ability to lift, push, pull, perform repetitive movements, and occasionally carry heavy objects. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, walk, stoop, crouch, and sit. Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to repeat physical movements and bend or twist as needed. Ability to wear assigned personal protective equipment including safety glasses, full-face respirators, gloves, and protective clothing. Vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
