Utilities Customer Service Specialist

Pay: $18.59/ hour

About the Role
Be the front line of customer support for our utility services. You'll help residents and businesses with billing questions, account management, service requests, and issue resolution — playing a key role in maintaining our reputation for reliable, high-quality service.

Responsibilities

• Answer customer inquiries about utility services, billing, and account status
• Resolve complaints and issues in a timely, professional manner
• Process payments and account updates
• Set up new service connections and manage disconnections/reconnections
• Educate customers on energy conservation and savings programs
• Maintain accurate records of customer interactions
• Collaborate with other departments on complex service issues
• Follow company policies and regulatory guidelines

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Customer service experience, preferably in utilities or a call center
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable with CRM software and basic office/computer skills
• Ability to de-escalate conflicts and handle difficult conversations
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours (evenings/weekends as needed)
• Bilingual skills a plus
• Knowledge of utility industry practices a plus
