Senior Buyer

Procure materials in a timely manner at the best price and quality by establishing, negotiating, and maintaining cost‑effective sources of supply through the application of professional purchasing principles and practices. Essential Functions Procures materials or other goods and coordinates activities involved with purchasing products and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising for establishment. Obtains quotes and delivery schedules and negotiates terms and conditions for material and services required for production. Monitors performance and capabilities of suppliers to ensure delivery, quality, and price commitments. Serves as liaison between vendors and PTD Design and Quality Engineering to achieve cost reductions through design changes, material selection, and manufacturing processes. Communicates with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Analyzes and communicates specifications and market conditions to determine the best source for procurement of HICO supplies and parts through domestic or international vendors and suppliers. Works with manufacturers and vendors to undertake the manufacturing of custom‑designed items according to the company’s specific needs and specifications. Maintains optimal inventory of domestic and imported production materials, i.e., bill of materials items, small materials, electrical and mechanical parts and components, expense items, and fixed assets to support continuous production operations. Reads technical diagrams and specifications to aid in the development of technical solutions and expedited deliveries. Maintains records of supplier delivery, price, and responsiveness performance. Works with suppliers to drive ongoing improvements to these primary metrics and analyze and report results. Furthers the goals and positive, professional image of the Purchasing Department by conducting business with other HICO departments, suppliers, etc. in a timely and cooperative manner. Knows HICO’s Quality, Safety & Environmental Policies and can fully discuss their importance and how they impact work. Non‑Essential Functions Initiate, compose, and distribute procedures as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or other related fields, and 8 to 10 years of experience in purchasing and/or material coordination or equivalent training and experience. Strong negotiation skills are a must. Developed verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills. General knowledge of how contract terms and conditions are applied. Computer literate, emphasizing MS Office products and MRP/ERP systems. Ability to use office equipment such as PC, photocopier, fax machine, etc. Ability to analyze data. Ability to travel to vendor locations. Ability to communicate with and negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers. #J-18808-Ljbffr
