Medical Laboratory Technician

Medical Lab Technician – Pride Health Location: Detroit, MI 48202 Duration: 13‑week contract (possibility of extension or conversion) Shift: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (potential flexibility: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) Pay: $35.00 / hr – $38.00 / hr (w2, pay rate based on experience and qualifications) Responsibilities Determine acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem‑solving. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls. Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. Assist with processing of specimens when needed. Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Requirements Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meeting local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements. Minimum 3 years of clinical laboratory testing experience. BLS certification; MLT certification is a plus. Experience with Epic, Sunquest or CoPath/LIS systems is a plus. ASCP MLT certification or equivalent. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Proficiency with computers. Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills. Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen. Flexibility to work overtime or additional shifts as needed.
