Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15); 36 or 48 hours per week available; every other weekend required; block scheduling options available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday)

Highlights:

• Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit with focus on post-surgical and trauma patients
• Patient ratio typically 5-6:1, may flex to 7:1 in extreme cases
• Epic EMR system required; 36 hours of paid orientation provided
• Contract length of 13 weeks or longer available through February 27 end date
• Floating required to other medical-surgical units within facility based on census needs
• Up to 7 days of pre-approved time off (no holiday time off permitted)

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with orthopedic work experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
• Required certifications: BLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Required skills: IV start, telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• First-time travelers accepted if Epic experience is present
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Preferred: ACLS certification, charge nurse experience, Level I Trauma experience

Patient Population:

• 39-bed orthopedic and neuro spine unit with average daily census of 37 patients
• Adult patient population including orthopedic, neuro spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical cases
• High volume of total joint replacements, trauma hips, spinal cord injuries, and pre/post neurosurgery patients
• Strong focus on pain management and customer service orientation required

Clinical Skills & Procedures:

• Blood product administration and heparin protocol management
• Central and peripheral line care and management
• PCA pump management and peripheral nerve block catheters
• Surgical drain management and isolation precautions
• Oxygen administration including nasal cannula and high flow nasal cannula
• Use of rapid response and code teams
