Principal Linux Engineer

Working remotely, the full-time Principal Linux Engineer will be responsible for building, patching, and testing userspace packages for Rocky Linux, while enhancing tooling and automation in the package-building process. Key responsibilities Collaborate with engineering, product, and sales teams to develop software solutions and participate in architecture-level discussions Document projects for knowledge sharing and facilitate integration for users, while driving proofs of concept and minimum viable products Develop automated tests to ensure quality and support multiple services through system design consulting and capacity planning Required qualifications Proven experience with Linux administration, Linux internals, and package management (RPM or DEB) At least 4 years of experience supporting Linux and 2 years in building Linux packages Familiarity with CVE remediation and various tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD processes Proficient in scripting languages and formats including Bash, YAML, XML, JSON, and REST APIs Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment, adapting to challenges in a fast-paced setting Virtual Vocations Inc
