Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal

Waymark HR Group is recruiting for a respected Rochester law firm that represents injured people and families against insurers and large corporations. They need an experienced litigation paralegal who wants to run cases, not just support them.

The opportunity

You would join the plaintiff-side personal injury and medical malpractice team as the steady hand behind each file. Clients will know your name, because you are their go-to contact from the first call to the final resolution. Attorneys will count on you at every stage, from the first complaint to trial prep. If you want autonomy, trial-level exposure, and cases that matter, this is a strong move.

What your days look like

Intake and clients

• Evaluate new matters as they come in
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients and keep them informed on case progress and what documents are needed
• Work with people going through some of the hardest moments of their lives, with patience and empathy

Building the case

• Request, collect, and organize medical records, bills, lien details, and expert materials
• Coordinate with treating providers, experts, and opposing counsel

Drafting

• Prepare summonses and complaints, bills of particulars, discovery demands and responses, authorizations, and subpoenas
• Draft basic motions and support attorneys on larger ones

Court and calendar

• Own the calendar: filing deadlines, court dates, depositions, and compliance conferences
• Schedule depositions
• E-file through NYSCEF and keep both digital and paper files accurate and current

Resolution and trial

• Support expert exchanges and mediation submissions
• Build trial exhibits and binders and help the attorneys get trial-ready
• Manage matters from start through settlement or verdict

You're a great fit if you have

• At least 5 years in New York plaintiff personal injury and/or medical malpractice litigation
• Working command of NYS filing rules and NYSCEF
• Comfort with medical terminology and a sharp eye for medical records
• Strong writing and drafting skills
• The ability to juggle many cases and deadlines without hand-holding
• Excellent communication, both written and spoken
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software
• A paralegal certificate or bachelor's degree (preferred)
