Job Title: PACU Holding Area RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MS/Tele Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Day 5x8-Hour Hours per Shift: 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM Experience: 1 year, preferably with post-operative experience License: NY license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Cardiac Telemetry - MS/Tele - Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Use of Rapid Response/Code teams - Peripheral line care/management - Starting and maintaining IVs - Total joint replacement - Oxygen administration - Isolation Precautions/PPE - Phlebotomy Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in the PACU Holding area. The RN will manage post-operative patients who are fully recovered. Patients will be waiting for their disposition, either discharge or transfer to another unit. The shift runs from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays required. An interdisciplinary support team will be available, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services. Patient diagnoses include orthopedic, neurological, GYN, and general post-operative cases. The RN will need to float to the med-surg unit as needed. Epic charting experience is required. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 5 to 1 during the day and may stretch to 6-7. Night ratios are expected to be 6-7, possibly 8-10, if additional staffing is requested.
