CNC Router OperatorA CNC Router Operator sets up, programs, and runs computer numerical control machines to cut, shape, and drill materials like wood, plastic, and composites. They interpret blueprints, load raw materials, manage tooling, and perform quality checks to produce precision parts while strictly adhering to safety and maintenance protocols.Core ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup: Calibrate routers, install correct cutting tools (bits), and secure raw materials to the machine bed.Programming & Operation: Load or input CAD/CAM designs, execute routing commands, and adjust feeds and speeds to ensure optimal cuts.Quality Control: Inspect finished products using calipers, tape measures, or gauges to verify they meet exact project specifications.Maintenance: Perform daily preventative maintenance, clean the router table, and clear debris to prevent machinery wear.Safety & Compliance: Wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and maintain a clean, hazard-free shop floor.Key Requirements & QualificationsBlueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work orders.Math & Measuring Skills: Proficiency in measuring (to 1/16") and the ability to add and subtract fractions and decimals.Physical Stamina: Capacity to stand for long shifts (often 8–10 hours) and frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs.Experience: High School Diploma (or equivalent) coupled with prior manufacturing experience or specialized training in CNC software (e.g., EnRoute, Mach3).
